HANDBOOK

Introducing
HANDBOOK Magazine

I think we have said this before, but one of our favorite things in this high tech modern world is receiving mail the old fashioned way, hand delivered by a grouchy overpaid, underworked civil worker with a chip on his shoulder and a mustache gay out of a 1983 porn movie (yes the mistake in this sentence is very on purpose!)
We dragged our asses down the stairs recently, bleary eyed, coffee in one hand, duct taped slippers and stolen hotel robe in full effect, to find a package waiting patiently for us in our box (much like the extremely younger boy we picked up outside the pinball arcade and then forgot outside our apartment in a haze of scotch and cigars, who had curled up in our hallway and patiently waited all night for us to come out of our booze coma). Don't worry, he's still alive, and a much better person for it. We were very happy, and surprised to find both of these treats at the bottom of our stairs, and so we would like to share one of them with you. (We will also sell you the boys number for the right price)

Handbook, published by the brilliant Darren Ankenbauer from San Francisco, made our month! The name,  which is a great little play on words, is extremely handy when you find your self alone and frisky, makes you want to use your hands to do something useful and/or dirty, and fits into your hand very easily. This smart little quarterly alternative publication takes its cues from vintage styled gay erotica magazines, but with a modern and beautiful twist that fits into, what we feel, is the esthetic of the new modern gay male. Its sophisticated and artful, while remaining dirty enough not to pretend its only seeking out one genre and concept. With fantastic themed photo shoots ranging from 1930's to homopunk to jock/boy next door, it creates an eclectic and exciting mix of dirtiness that makes us scratch our crotch and our beard. We love the tag line:
The photography work (by Darren also) is stunning, and the mix of raw and polished styles gives us a huge photo boner. It all works beautifully together to form a unique and very interesting little magazine thats well worth keeping "handy" (sorry we couldn't help ourselves).
If the magazine leaves you wanting more, you can go to the web site and buy a membership, which, for a pretty good price,  also gives you access to dirty fun videos of the models in the magazines, and exclusive photos organized by model, so you can find your favorite ones and spend a few hours working out your sunday hangover. Check out their Dlist page for updates and other such dirtyness.

Jay A. Rickard, Indianapolis

So, it may seem like we have been slacking for the last week or so, and it may or may not be partly true. However, we have also been busy little Homos, working on the new layout for the print edition of the magazine, coming out very soon. We have also been working on some new sets of photos submitted by some really fucking amazing artists from all over this big dirty planet.

Introducing
Light Weaver

The fantastic Homephoto guy Jay A. Rickard, or more popularly known as Light Weaver in the photo world, recently sent us a submission that we think is pretty fuckin hot.

This adorable and dirty guy from Indianapolis, is both talented and imaginative when it comes to his photography, and you can see it in his works. He has been at it for a long time now, carefully honing his skills and developing a style all his own. We also like that he takes some risks with his work, and is not afraid to work outside the norms. He has a long list of people he has worked with, and everyone has nothing but great things to say about him and his work. He also has a great web site that lets you save favorite photos of his work, so you can remember which ones gave you a tingly feeling deep inside.

As soon as we opened the set he sent to us, we knew he had really pulled together something special. It is an amazing set of photos that really fit well with what were all about here at BLEW. The tones and colors are beautiful, and there is a wonderful and surprising connection between the subject and the environment around him in the photos. Altogether, it came together to create a very moving set of work. Check out his blog as well, to keep up with his new works coming out.

WHAM BAM PADAM!

Introducing
Adriano Batista
Wham Bam Padam, Thank you mam! We recently ran across the beautiful and brazen artist Adriano Batista from Barcelona, Spain, where Sybrandt and his boyfriend Uwajedi were visiting (and by visiting, we mean whoring around) in February of this year. It seems like Spain is a hot and sweaty bed of art and culture these days, making a comeback in the photography scene that will not soon be forgotten.

His work is vivid, fresh, and brazen, exposing everything in the wide open for the viewer to see. Each set is carefully thought out and well framed, with beautiful tones and shades, capturing a true feeling that heightens the sexual overtones in the photo without making it grotesque or perverse. He seems to come up new locations to shoot in every time, capturing interesting perspectives which give the viewer an unusual peek into the moments and themes he sets up. He has a very sharp eye for design that comes through in his work, and we are sure he is going to do amazing things to come. His work was already featured in one of our favorite publications, TRYSTATE MAGAZINE, and we are going to be keeping our eyes on this hot little 22 year old.

Here is what he says about himself:

I believe I can say my work lays primarily on fashion photography with the characteristic of featuring a lot more boobies and testicles. I'm moved by an insatiable voyeurism, going through everything in the action, from the smallest detail to the whole composition itself. I'm fascinated by the corporal and sexual expression and for exhibitionism without any fear or shame.I like my pictures to face the observer. My work is very sexual, with explicit nudity and exhibitionism, always laying on a concept.I really like to tease and criticize, not always using nudes for that purpose. I use then, a sharp humour and kitsch aesthetics as adornment to my photos. There is a strong sense of theatrics on my photos even though some of them are absolutely spontaneous; wich is achieved through great cumplicity between the photographer and the models. I don't shine on the conventional technique , for that is not what I seek, I value most of all the concept and the meaning of the photograph.

ARTFAG:
Local event
His work is beautiful and dreamy with a very modern and contemporary feel. Some of the pieces actually gave us a chill. We also love that he is originally from Vancouver, where we spent most of our gay life so far, before moving to the big city of Toronto. His work has a very west coast feel to it, and you can see it come through in the textures and mood, almost a bit damp and cool. Check out the Facebook gallery night page here

Introducing Orland
by Drasko Bogdanovic

Idle hands are the work of the devil, or so we were told by my mom, and yet, we still find time to get up to no good dirty trouble.
A couple of weeks ago, Drasko Bogdanovic (our amazingly talented photofriend) and the boys over here at BLEW, got together with the quirky and adorable model Orland for a photo shoot early in the wee hours of the morning (before noon). We have been sitting on this little gem (not literally, although we kind of wish), getting all of the editing done and humming and hawwing over which ones to use. After much discussion, we have narrowed it down to a tight little package of photos that we think capture both the model, and a certain esthetic.
Drasko also has been a busy little beaver, working as the new photographer for FAB magazine doing the  FAB GUY section for the magazine, and working on his beautifully revamped web site. If you haven't checked it out already, do so, its much cleaner and easy to navigate, and the hot naked guys don't hurt the ol eyes too much either. He is going to be in an upcoming show in the US and was also just interviewed by Charmants.com of Montreal. Fantastic work Drasko!

Introducing the
BULGE

The best of all worlds have just collided, and we thought you should know all about it. Like hot guys? Like undies? Like art? Like combining all of them? Well then Bulge is for you. This new little underwear company from Germany is blurring the lines between art and underwear, in a way we never expected.
First off, they make impeccably crafted undies out of soft and beautiful printed fabrics that make us think of soft fresh pressed linens and warm sunny afternoons spent making out in the shade. Think heritage meets modern with classic cuts and luxury comfort, all wrapped abound your cute little butt.
Now comes the good part. You can opt to purchase the "Package" deal, which includes a photograph, in a wood frame, signed and numbered by the guest artists, of a really hot guy wearing the undies you just purchased. Each photo is hot, artistic, and involves undies, which is pretty fantastic. All the shots are beautifully done with a playful and lighthearted feeling that doesn't take itself to seriously. All of this is wrapped up in a beautiful present box, and shipped right to your door. Featured artists include Andreas Lux & Ralf West, Astor Frank, and Jan Gorman, to name a few. They also just released a special "Kaiserin Magazine" edition, which kind of made us grab ourselves with joy.

Introducing:

The End Of "The Ass"

Mysterious, cheeky, and sexy with a great sense of humor. You may think we are describing the perfect boyfriend, but in fact, were talking about the amazingly hot photographer from NYC known only as "The Ass". Sounds mysterious right? Well, its actually pretty simple. The name says it all, and he has very little to hide.....well, almost.

Heres the low down. "The Ass", quite simply, is a pretty hot guy, from what we can tell, who goes around and takes photos of people posing with his fantastic set of buns. Its all kind of amazing and sexy. The simplicity of it all screams, "why has this not been done before", and yet, it hasn't.  He frequents events and parties in NYC, mainly at the fantastic Mr.Black's club, taking shots with party-goers ranging from random drunk hot guys and girls, to the whos who in the NYC celebrity list. Trust us, the list is quite impressive.  Fergie, Boy George, Alan Cumming, Deborah Harry, and Lance Bass are just a few to have posed with this beautiful bum, and thats just the start.

We have been following him for a while now, watching his work progress and grow into something much more than just photos of a hot ass. He has been dropping trow for several years now, exposing his ass to the underground world of dirty sexy fun, and from what we can tell, he's decided to pull up his pants and retire. Its sad when great things come to an end, but one must progress into new and better things, and all we can do is wish him luck in whatever he chooses to do next.
